Apple forced to publish statement saying Samsung did NOT copy iPad

Apple has been forced to publish a statement on its UK website admitting that Samsung did NOT copy its products.
The statement has been published on the Californian tech giant's UK site today. The publication, in response to a High Court Judgement in the UK, occurs against a background of multiple copyright cases between the two countries in many territories.

Apple will also have to take out advertisements in national newspapers admitting that Samsung's Galaxy tablets did not copy its iPad.

Apple recently unveiled a new, smaller version of its iPad, iPad Mini, while Samsung has been making smaller Galaxy Tab models for several years.

Apple points out in its statement that other judges in other territories have ruled on the case quite differently.

'However, in a case tried in Germany regarding the same patent, the court found that Samsung engaged in unfair competition by copying the iPad design. A U.S. jury also found Samsung guilty of infringing on Apple's design and utility patents, awarding over one billion U.S. dollars in damages.

The tech giant also points out in its statement that the judge ruled Samsung's tablets were, 'not as cool' as Apple's.

'They do not have the same understated and extreme simplicity which is possessed by the Apple design. They are not as cool,' said the ruling.
