New 'sexting' app allows love cheats to cover their tracks

Cheating spouses - or just people with a jealous partner who snoops on their calls and texts - should rejoice.

There's now even an app for 'that'.

CATE - Call and Text Eraser - hides calls from contacts people want to keep private, and hides texts inside a secret 'locker' in a smartphone.

Users can call, 'sext' and communicate to their hearts content, and a jealous spouse will find no evidence in the phone unless the app is open.

Numbers, texts and information are only visible when the app is open - and the app itself is hidden.

If users are caught 'red handed', they simply shake the phone, and the app disappears.

The app is available now via Android market priced at £3.22. The makers claim that 70% of customers have been women.

It has been downloaded and installed nearly 10,000 times.

An iPhone version is in the works, but depends on Apple's approval process.

It was invented by Neal Desai, who received funding from Shark Tank, a U.S. TV show

While it is running, numbers set to 'secret' will not show up, even if they call.

'Secret' calls and texts are only visible when the app is open.

Users have posted comments showing that it's not just love cheats who use it.

'This app is for keeping the peace. I don't cheat but wife doesn't like me having female friends. Good app. Love is blind with? this app. Keep the peace with the wife,' says one.

Unlike other 'stealthy' apps, though, there's no evidence it's even there - there is no app icon.

Instead, users dial 4444 as if phoning a normal number, and the app's menu pops up.

Users can select options such as 'Quick Clean', 'Stealth Mode', and 'Retrieve Calls and Texts'. A quick shake makes the menu disappear.
