New iPad to launch alongside iPad mini

Blimey, the Apple event tomorrow (23 October) is shaping up to be a Generation Game-like conveyor belt of products whizzed before journalists' eyes, with a new iPad rumoured to be announced alongside the iPad mini, 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display, new iMac and an update model of the Mac mini.

Sources state that the 3rd generation 9.7-inch iPad is going to be rejigged a bit. According to 9to5Mac, they claim that the company is adding some important enhancements, such as the adoption of the new Lightning connector instead of the old, wider socket and compatibility for global standards of 4G mobile internet - EE's UK network included.

It is also believed that the newer new iPad will actually replace the existing model with the sources stating that the price structure will remain the same, even with the refresh. The Apple-centric website also reports that the same storage size structure will be in force; 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

If this is true, the new model will cost from £399 for the Wi-Fi-only version, from £499 for the LTE edition designed to run on EE 4G.

We'll find out for sure tomorrow 6pm GMT (10am PT). Pocket-lint will be bringing you all the news from the event live, join us for what is turning out to be one hell of an Apple launch jamboree.
